Simple camping with fantastic view and vibe. Located close to Majella National Park, the area offers plenty of outdoor activities. Trekking can be done from the site itself. The Adriatic coast is only about 40 minutes drive away.
The site is located in the South-Central Italy, in the Pescara region of Abruzzo. You will experience some quite up/down-hill driving getting there but that is all part of the charm. Note, that the site only has two small spaces for camper vans of our type / size.
The site is run by two Italy based british people who try and live the simple life running this campsite (they also rent out an appartment in the nearby village). They are very welcoming, friendly and can guide you on a bunch of outdoor activities.
The site has a shared toilet and shower facilities as well as a kitchen out in the open. The kitchen is well equipped with fridges, barbeque, etc.
In walking distance from the site, there is a small village, Serramonacesca, with a couple of small grocery shops, a butcher, a restaurant/pizzaria and a couple of bars.
We also visited one of the better local restaurants. The food was very good with a splendid view from the terrace.
While we walked back to the campsite (about 1 hour), the hosts were kind to give us a lift getting there – not adviced to walk as it is uphill all the way.
As the campsite is quite remote, it is adviced to be flexible with regards to transportation. The number one activity from the campsite itself is trekking! The hosts have plenty of recommended treks either starting from the site itself or closeby in the Majella National Park. With a baby in a carrier, we only managed to do a short roundtrip trek to a nearby small “waterfall”. It was about 2 hrs trekking in a relatively slow pace. Nevertheless, it was really a nice walk.
This campsite is definitely worth staying at and can therefore be found on our recommended list of great sites in Italy: Recommended campsites in Italy
