Wonderful stay at La Vecchia Quercia B&B in Selci 1 hour drive from Rome.
La Vecchia Quercia is worth staying at for its great atmosphere, good restaurant, great hosts and central location for exploring both the rural side of Lazio and do day trips to bigger towns / cities.
Whether you are travelling in a campervan or not, this place is really recommended. We used it ourselves as a short camper break on our latest tour. It is run by the two owners through many years, Giuseppe and Anna.
They are extremely welcoming and will do their best to make you feel at home! Giuseppe is a real character and Anna is the kitchen cheef making the best rustic italian food. They serve traditional dishes, make really good pizza, bread, pastry and homemade pasta of course!
Below pictures of the big wood fired stone oven as well as the restaurant dinning room will give you a feel of what to expect eating here!
While the place itself is charming you need a car to explore the nearby medieval villages (which there are plenty of). The bigger towns of Rieti (East), Vitterbo (West) and Terni (North) are all within driving distance (~1 hour). The place can also be used as a base for exploring Villa d’Este in Tivoli which is a great experience or for a day trip to Rome.
The rooms are furnished in a rustic traditional style. Some of the rooms have a small kitchen as well (however we recommend to eat at the restaurant!). The B&B is very reasonable priced and can be booked through this link: La Vecchia Quercia
